Past Polemarch Hunter also served as 2017 Black History Month Reception Committee chairman.

The 2017 awardees were:

  • Cultural Leadership Award winner Audrey Johnson-Thornton,

  • Entrepreneurship Award winner Philly Alumni’s own A. Bruce Crawley

Honorees received citations from the honorable PA State Representative Stephen Kinsey (D-Phila.-201) and Philadelphia City Councilman Derek Green (D – At-Large), both brothers of Kappa Alpha Psi.

SAC Chairman Junious R. Stanton also addressed honorees, Kappa men and guests to the reception about the current efforts of the Senior Affairs Committee. Polemarch Darryl Stephens further feted the successful growth and work of the Senior Affairs Committee (courtesy Philadephia Tribune):

Darryl Stephens said, “As polemarch of the Kappa Alpha Psi® Fraternity, Inc., Philadelphia Alumni Chapter since June 2016 and member of our fraternity since 1972, I am well aware and proud of the significant contributions of the Senior Affairs Committee. Former SAC Chair Charles M. Greene was instrumental in increasing the membership of the committee from 35 to 65 members in just three years. He is also responsible for the proliferation of The Black History program and has garnered sponsorship of the event. He is greatly appreciated and acknowledged for his contribution. The SAC of Philadelphia is the largest in the entire county. Because of our success, our Grand (National) chapter has subsequently used our committee as a model. The SAC provides support of fellowship and special community service activities for our senior Kappa brothers. It also provides financial support to various community based initiatives.”

Congratulations to the Senior Affairs Committee members and the Black History Month Reception Committee on a successful Black History Month Reception.
